An
American Association of Retired Persons (AARP) survey estimated that
there are some 33 million seniors online at this time and the numbers
are growing. Below are some of the wonderful web sites that are senior-friendly and just plain fun.

Age of Reason
web site offers an e-mail club, a discussion member page, and even a

Friendly4seniors This
site offers medical, recreation, financial information, associations
that cater to seniors, community resources located around the country
and discounts.
Administration on Aging Provides
information on the Older American Act, it lists state agencies on
Aging, gives budget information on the AOA, has a "what's new" section
for seniors on technology, drugs, insurance and housing; and provides
links to the National Aging Information Center (NAIC).
Elderweb is designed to assist
family, professionals and students in researching topics of interest
to seniors. This award winning site offers information on legal,
housing, medical, statistics and personal finances.
Mr. Modem who is also known as
Richard A. Sherman is the author of eight books. His "Mr. Modem's
Internet Guide to Seniors was named "Internet Book of the Year". His
web site features frequently asked questions (FAQ's) from his
syndicated columns as well as updates from his latest books.
RetirementNet is called
the biggest retirement community on the web. This site offers seasonal
and annual condo and apartment rentals, golf courses, RV living,
independent, assisted and nursing care living across the country.

CHICAGO AREA RESOURCES FOR SENIORS
Illinois Department on Aging.
Has information on employment programs, meals programs, senior
centers, outreach programs and elder abuse & neglect programs to name
a few.
Chicago Department on Aging
offers a variety of services for seniors and their families. From this
site you can get information on Fitness Plus, life enrichment, job
opportunities, the Golden Diner Nutrition Program and volunteer
programs like Mayor Daley's Light Up Chicago Program.
Exploring
Chicago. If you are looking for fun things to do with your
grandchildren check out this web site for sports, shopping, music
concerts, tours, the theater and other attractions.
Exploring Chicago / Museums There are many museums in
Chicago and this a terrific web site that will give you an overall

Chicago Park District Learn

MEDICAL RESOURCES ON THE INTERNET
FirstGov for Seniors was
designed to assist seniors, and those approaching retirement age in
finding information on health such as Alzheimer's, osteoporosis and
diabetes, consumer information and even travel and information.
WellnessWeb answers health
questions and concerns. This site is staffed by physicians, nurses,
nutritionist and fitness professionals. You can get information on
diseases and their treatments and there is an online bookstore.
HealthandAge was founded by
the Novartis Foundation for Gerontology in Basel Switzerland. You can
find articles on a variety of health topics and find information in
French, Spanish, German and English. There is also a health center
where you can get your questions answered.
Medicinenet contains medical
information, medication information, articles on various subjects and
an online medical dictionary.
Healthfinder is a gateway to
consumer health and human services and is developed by the U.S.
Department of Health and Human Services.
Oncolink was developed by the
University of Pennsylvania Medical and Cancer Center. It is dedicated
to resources and information on all kinds of cancers. This web site

Alzheimer's Association is a national

part of the Yahoo home page and it has a Driving Directions service.
